Our History
Pierce Fence was one of the first authorized dealers for the brand Anchor back in the 70’s in Delaware. We have grown over the years with the fence industry. From once being a small house on a commercial lot in 1969 to expanding into a large building that houses three offices, a shop area, and a supply yard. We fabricate vinyl fences from profiles, stock 4’ high Split Rail, chain link fabric and pipe along with hard to find chain link parts. We continue to update and grow, generation after generation. We are grateful for our customers, past and present. At Pierce Fence we understand the dedication and commitment it takes to succeed in business.

Founder & First Generation of Pierce Fence
Pierce Fence Company, Inc. is the evolution of a family business that was started by William E. Pierce Jr. Working at Tyler Refrigeration in his early years, he had a keen business sense and a strong desire to be an entrepreneur. In 1969, Bill established Pierce Fence on North DuPont Highway in Dover, where it remains today. He managed the business along side his wife Thresa for a few years until they personally parted ways but remained dear friends until his passing in 2015. After growing the business for 21 years, Bill, retired and turned Pierce Fence over to his sons.

Second generation President of Pierce Fence
In 1990, Bob & Bruce Pierce became owners of the family business. Both men worked for their father prior to ownership. Bob & Bruce worked in different aspects, yet both equally important to the business. After years of being partners, Bruce made the decision to part from the company and in turn was bought out by his brother Bob. Bruce being a valued part of the business, continued to work for his brother as an installer. Bob Sr. continued to be the president of the company for nearly 25 years after. With his dedication and years of knowledge in the fence industry he was able to pass the company to his son Bob Jr. in 2015.

Third generation President of Pierce Fence
In 2015, Bob Jr. became the third president of Pierce Fence. His dad, Bob Sr. decided to only semi-retire and while he passed on the family legacy to his son, he continues to hold the position as a representative for residential sales. Bob Jr.’s fence experience started at the age of 16. He has installed miles and miles of fence in the 25 years he has worked for the family business. Bob Jr. not only brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the business but he also holds a lot of pride in the family name. His heart and soul goes into every detail of Pierce Fence. There is no end to his workday. He is very passionate about carrying on the legacy his grandfather started and his father helped move along, with the hope to one day see his own sons become the fourth generation. By treating customers with honesty and fairness, Pierce Fence Company has been able to serve the community for over 50 years.
